Thursday, September 3, 2020

National Alcohol & Drug Addiction Recovery Month

Approximately 786,000 Minnesotans – 14.02% of the state population – use illegal drugs and another 234,000 – 4.17% of the state population – abuse alcohol in a given year. As a consequence, 13.66% of all deaths in Minnesota between 2008 and 2017 were caused by drugs and alcohol, nearly a full percentage point above the national average for drug-and alcohol-induced deaths of 12.71%.

Help.org created a guide to help the many residents of Minnesota who are struggling with substance abuse and addiction to find affordable treatment that will put them on the path to recovery. It is also intended to inform the general public about the dangers of substance abuse in Minnesota. It contains a wealth of information on 33 different types of substance addiction, from Adderall to Xanax, in addition to assistance in locating a treatment program.
