A message from AAPA:
Great news! Last night, the Senate, following the House’s lead last week, approved the House-Senate Conference report to S. 524, the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA) of 2016, which will (among other things) allow PAs to prescribe buprenorphine. The bill will go to the President to sign in the near future. Read more about the bill and what it will allow PAs to do, here: https://www.aapa.org/twocolumn.aspx?id=6442451390
This is a big win for the profession, one that would not have been possible without the momentum you all created in February when you went to Capitol Hill to advocate for expanded access to opioid treatment and for PAs in mental health. It is a real testament to the power of grassroots advocacy.
Congratulations, and THANK YOU for being advocates for the profession!
