MAPA DEI PROJECT ACCESS COMPETITION

Training Link is here.

Project Overview: Educating individuals about the PA profession at a young age is one way that we can actively work to increase the diversity of PA students and the PA workforce in Minnesota. As a result, the Diversity Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee is organizing an initiative to promote the PA profession in elementary, middle, and high schools. We are excited to announce a competition that will run from February 1st 2024 to May 31, 2024. Participants will visit elementary, middle, or high schools to deliver 15-20 minute-long presentations about the PA profession using the PAEA Project Access toolkit (click on this hyperlink to access the project access materials). This toolkit contains a pre-made presentation, surveys, and other useful resources. The competition will be done in groups of 3-5 individuals with no limit on the number of teams per program. PA students of all years are encouraged to participate.

Please have all participants watch the recorded training above. Given that the training will be virtual, you can register for the competition until January 31st. Please register for the competition by January 31st at 11:59pm. Then the competition will kick off on February 1st!!

Register Here.

What else do you need to know?  Teams need to take a photo of themselves at the school for each presentation to count. Photos must be emailed to Hayden Middleton and Elise Haupt to prove attendance (emails below). The winning team will be determined based on the number of presentations given and each team member will receive a $75 dollar visa gift card. Winners to be announced in early June.

Email Elise Haupt (eahaupt@gmail.com) or Hayden Middleton (middleton.hayden@mayo.edu) with any outstanding questions or concerns! We look forward to partnering with you all to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion work in the state of Minnesota.
